One way to merge two images together is to change the layer’s position. Of course, it should be emphasized that this is the time when you want to integrate a texture with a picture. However, we are going to teach simple way to blend images in Photoshop.
For example, we plan to combine the following portraits and texture with this method.
Hold Ctrl+ Shift and drag an image to another.
Be careful to select images with same size. Otherwise enlarge the small one manually or make larger image small. If you open these two photos in Photoshop and look at the Layers panel, you need to have a portrait image in background layer and the texture the top of it.
Layer status change
Changing the layers of the layers will help to make changes in which the layers have different positions in relation to each other.
The status of a layer can be changed from a small cascading menu at the top of the layers panel.
Click the Normal word at the top of this panel to display a list of different statuses. Each of these options will appear to give you a special status to the layer you are looking for. The most important situations are Multiply, Screen, and Overlay.
Multiply produces a dark effect on the layer and the screen gives a clear effect to the layer. The two-layer overlay combines to achieve higher contrast. Check them to find out which one is better for you.
Normal: normal mode.
Dissolve: By choosing this mode, the more we go to the middle of the selected segment, the more pixels become less and more scattered.
Color burn: If the amount of darkness in the multiply mode is not sufficient enough, we use this mode or linear burn mode. Using this mode, it increases the contrast, saturation and noise levels of the image.
Linear burn: If we need to have less saturation and less noise than Color burn, but we need all the contrast, we use this mode.
I choose the Soft Light option to merge the two images together. This option will give you the best result in integrating my images.
Soft Light gives higher contrast than Overlay, and the result will be more natural.
Another situation that may be appropriate is Divide. This situation is usually not very practical and not very common. However by combine these two images together, you can see the result.
Layer composition with Opacity
Once you have selected the right one, you can also change Opacity to achieve the desired result.
A trick: Change the status of a layer using the keyboard
To help you speed up your work, we’ll tell you how you can change the status of a layer with the help of a keyboard.
Press the V key from the keyboard to select the Move Tool in the selection mode.
Then press Shift and + or Shift and – to switch between different status lists.
